E.2 Objective of the trial |
E.2.1 | Main objective of the trial |
To evaluate the efficacy of a regimen containing GS-9350-boosted atazanavir versus ritonavir-boosted atazanavir, each administered with emtricitabine/tenofovir disoproxil fumarate, in HIV-1 infected, antiretroviral treatment-naïve adult subjects as determined by the achievement of HIV-1 RNA < 50 copies/mL at Week 48. |
|

|
E.2.3 | Trial contains a sub-study | Yes |
E.2.3.1 | Full title, date and version of each sub-study and their related objectives |
An intensive pharmacokinetic substudy will be performed between the Week 2 and 8 visits in a subset of subjects (target n = 48 evaluable) at selected study sites. |
|
E.3 | Principal inclusion criteria |

A highly effective method of contraception is defined as two separate forms of contraception, one of which must be an effective barrier method, or male subjects must be non-heterosexually active, practice sexual abstinence, or be vasectomized. • Age ≥ 18 years • Life expectancy ≥ 1 year |

Subjects with cutaneous KS are eligible, but must not have received any systemic therapy for KS within 30 days of Baseline and must not be anticipated to require systemic therapy during the study. • Active, serious infections (other than HIV-1 infection) requiring parenteral antibiotic or antifungal therapy within 30 days prior to Baseline. • Subjects receiving ongoing therapy with any of the following medications, including drugs not to be used with GS-9350, FTC, TDF, ATV, and RTV (refer to the list below for drugs which are disallowed for use with GS-9350); or subjects with any known allergies to the excipients of GS-9350 tablets, Truvada® tablets, atazanavir capsules or ritonavir tablets.
