Clinical trials

The European Union Clinical Trials Register   allows you to search for protocol and results information on:
  • interventional clinical trials that were approved in the European Union (EU)/European Economic Area (EEA) under the Clinical Trials Directive 2001/20/EC
  • clinical trials conducted outside the EU/EEA that are linked to European paediatric-medicine development

  • EU/EEA interventional clinical trials approved under or transitioned to the Clinical Trial Regulation 536/2014 are publicly accessible through the
    Clinical Trials Information System (CTIS).

The EU Clinical Trials Register currently displays   43865   clinical trials with a EudraCT protocol, of which   7286   are clinical trials conducted with subjects less than 18 years old.   The register also displays information on   18700   older paediatric trials (in scope of Article 45 of the Paediatric Regulation (EC) No 1901/2006).

Phase 1 trials conducted solely on adults and that are not part of an agreed paediatric investigation plan (PIP) are not publicly available (see Frequently Asked Questions ).

    E.2.1Main objective of the trial
To provide sildenafil citrate therapy to the subjects who have completed study A1481156 for the treatment of PAH in Russian Federation where Revatio™ has not
been approved by the Ministry of Healthcare and Social Development for use in children with PAH, is not commercially available, is not reimbursed through drug reimbursement program and are judged by the Investigator to derive clinical benefit from continued treatment with sildenafil citrate. It will be supplied until subject gains access to reimbursed sildenafil citrate through drug reimbursement program of the Ministry of Healthсare and Social Development of Russian Federation.

    Not Applicable
    E.2.3Trial contains a sub-study No
    E.3Principal inclusion criteria
Subjects must meet all of the following inclusion criteria to be eligible for enrolment into the trial:
    1. Subjects completed study A1481156 and are judged by the Investigator to derive clinical benefit from continuous treatment with sildenafil citrate therapy.
    2. Subjects with PAH being treated at a study site in Russian Federation where sildenafil citrate is not available and reimbursed by the Ministry of Healthcare and Social Development.
    3. All female subjects of childbearing potential must use adequate contraception (i.e. hormonal in conjunction with intrauterine device or barrier methods with spermicide) throughout the study and for four weeks after completion of the study, or must be celibate or their partner must have had a
vasectomy. The Visit 1 urine pregnancy test must be negative (if the urine pregnancy test is positive, a serum pregnancy test must be performed and the result must be negative). Female subjects who have been surgically sterilized may be enrolled and do not need to use birth control.
    4. Evidence of an informed consent document signed and dated by the subject (or a legally acceptable representative) indicating that the subject has been informed of all pertinent aspects of the study.
Also, subject assent will be obtained where applicable
    E.4Principal exclusion criteria
Subjects presenting with any of the following will not be included in the study:
    1. Pregnant or lactating female subjects
    2. Current participation in other studies and during study participation, except for the A1481156 follow-up period. (After the End Of Treatment visit in study A1481156, the subjects will need to have 30-40 day Follow-Up visit for A1481156, but will no longer be being treated in A1481156).
    3. Other severe acute or chronic medical or psychiatric condition or laboratory abnormality that may increase the risk associated with study participation or investigational product administration and, in the judgment of the investigator, would make the subject inappropriate for entry into this study.
