Clinical trials

The European Union Clinical Trials Register   allows you to search for protocol and results information on:
  • interventional clinical trials that were approved in the European Union (EU)/European Economic Area (EEA) under the Clinical Trials Directive 2001/20/EC
  • clinical trials conducted outside the EU/EEA that are linked to European paediatric-medicine development

  • EU/EEA interventional clinical trials approved under or transitioned to the Clinical Trial Regulation 536/2014 are publicly accessible through the
    Clinical Trials Information System (CTIS).

The EU Clinical Trials Register currently displays   44132   clinical trials with a EudraCT protocol, of which   7324   are clinical trials conducted with subjects less than 18 years old.   The register also displays information on   18700   older paediatric trials (in scope of Article 45 of the Paediatric Regulation (EC) No 1901/2006).

Phase 1 trials conducted solely on adults and that are not part of an agreed paediatric investigation plan (PIP) are not publicly available (see Frequently Asked Questions ).

    E.2 Objective of the trial
    E.2.1Main objective of the trial
The primary objective of this study is:
    • To evaluate the long-term safety of fostamatinib in subjects with warm antibody autoimmune hemolytic anemia (wAIHA)
    E.2.2Secondary objectives of the trial
The secondary objectives of this study are:
    • To compare the proportion of subjects with subjects with wAIHA who achieve a durable hemoglobin response between those who had been randomized to either fostamatinib or placebo in the parent study
    • To estimate the durability of response in subjects receiving fostamatinib for wAIHA
    • To assess steroid use in subjects with wAIHA treated with fostamatinib.
    E.2.3Trial contains a sub-study No
    E.3Principal inclusion criteria
    1. Subject must be willing and able to give written informed consent by signing an IRB approved Informed Consent Form prior to undergoing any study-specific procedures.
    2. Subject must have completed all 24 weeks of participation in the study C-935788-057.
    3. Female subjects must be either post-menopausal for at least 1 year or surgically sterile; or, if of childbearing potential, must not be pregnant or lactating and must agree to use a highly effective method of birth control throughout the duration of the trial and for 30 days following the last dose. Acceptable methods of birth control are defined as: hormonal contraception (pill, injection or implant) used consistently for at least 30 days prior to baseline an intrauterine device (IUD), or intrauterine hormone-releasing system (IUS), or true abstinence (i.e. abstinence is in line with the preferred and usual lifestyle of the subject).
    4. In the investigator’s opinion, the subject has the ability to understand the nature of the study and any hazards of participation and to communicate satisfactorily with the investigator.
    E.4Principal exclusion criteria
    1. Any subject who discontinued participation in Study C-935788-057 prior to Week 24.
    E.5 End points
    E.5.1Primary end point(s)
    Safety Endpoints:
•Changes Incidence, frequency, seriousness, and severity of adverse events that occurred during the current study.
•Change from baseline in blood pressure over time
•Change from baseline in absolute neutrophil count (ANC) over time
•Change from baseline in liver function tests (i.e., alanine aminotransferase [ALT], aspartate aminotransferase [AST]), total bilirubin, direct and indirect bilirubin) and selected laboratory test results over time
•Categorical change from baseline in laboratory values per CTCAE v5.0 criteria for ANC, ALT, AST, total bilirubin
•Change from baseline to worst post-baseline value in the current study
•Change from baseline to post-baseline value in current study.

    Efficacy Endpoints:
•Endpoints had been listed on Table 2 of Protocol. No distinction is made between primary and secondary efficacy endpoints.
To facilitate defining the endpoints noted in Table 2, observation periods are defined in Table 5 and endpoint parameters in Table 6.
