1. Male or female subject aged 17 to 35 years inclusive, at Screening visit. 2. Subjectwith clinical diagnosis of acne vulgaris on the face as defined by (excluding the nose and middle zone of approximatey 2 cm): a. Investigator’s Global Assessment (IGA) score of 3 (Moderate) or 4 (Severe), with the same score on both sides of the face; and b. A minimum of 20 inflammatory lesions (papules and pustules)in total, with at least 10 on each side; and c. No more than 2 nodules (1cm in diameter) on the face; and d. A minimum of 10 atrophic acne scars in total ( >2mm), 3. Subject with a symmetrical number of the following lesions/scars on the whole face (i.e., there are no more than twice as many lesions/scars of each type on one half of the face than on the other half): a. Inflammatory and non-inflammatory lesions; and b. Atrophic acne scars (minimum of 4 scars per half-face) 4. The subject is a female of non-childbearing potential (premenarchal or postmenopausal [absence of menstrual bleeding for 1 year prior to Screening, without any other medical reason], hysterectomy or bilateral oophorectomy). 5. The subject is a female of childbearing potential: 5.1 Who is willing to undergo UPTs throughout the course of the study, as required. 5.2 Who has been strictly abstinent for 1 month prior to Screening and agrees to continue for the duration of the clinical study and at least 1month after the last study drug application, OR Who agrees to use highly effective and approved contraceptive method(s) for the duration of the study and at least 1 month after the last study drug application. Highlyeffective methods of contraception include: a. bilateral tubal ligation; b. approved combined oral contraceptives (estrogens and progesterone), implanted or injectable contraceptives, or hormonal contraceptive vaginal rings with a stable dose for at least 1 month prior to the Screening visit; c. intrauterine device or intrauterine hormonal-releasing system inserted at least 1 month prior to the Screening visit; d. vasectomized partner for at least 3 months prior to the Screening visit Note: This criterion applies to a prepubertal female subject whobegins menses during the study. 6. If a female of childbearing potential uses oral contraceptives that are also approved for treating acne vulgaris (such as cyproterone acetate and ethinyl estradiol; drospirenone and ethinyl estradiol; norgestimate and ethinyl estradiol; norenthindrone acetate and ethinyl estradiol; etc) the dose should be stable for at least 6 months prior to the Screening visit. 7. Subject having read, understood and signed the approved Informed Consent Form (ICF) prior to any participation in the clinical study. Subject under the age of 18 having signed an assent form to participate in the clinical study and their parent(s) or legal representative having read and signed the informed consent form prior to any clinical study related procedure. 8. Subject (and legal guardian, if applicable) agrees and is able to comply with all time commitments and procedural requirements of the protocol, including daily recording of dosing compliance by the subject using an electronic tablet provided for this study, as well as taking daily videos of study medication use. Consent to taking daily videos is mandatory for study participation at all sites. 9. Subject agrees to having photographs taken (mandatory for study participation, at designated imaging centers), and verified by the subject signing and dating an approved ICF (includes willingness to remove all makeup prior to study visits, remove jewelry in the areas to be photographed, keep facial hair well-groomed prior to study visits). 10.Subject is informed of terms pertaining to personal information protection and privacy and is willing to share personal information and data, as verified by signing a written authorization at the Screening visit.

1. Patient de sexe masculin ou féminin âgé de 17 à 35 ans inclus lors de la visite de sélection. 2. Patient ayant reçu un diagnostic clinique d'acné vulgaire au visage tel que défini par (à l'exclusion du nez et de la zone médiane d'environ 2 cm) : a. Score d'évaluation globale de l'investigateur (Investigator's Global Assessment, IGA) de 3 (modéré) ou 4 (sévère), le score étant identique pour chaque côté du visage ; et b. Un minimum de 20 lésions inflammatoires (papules et pustules) au total, dont 10 au moins de chaque côté du visage ; et c. Pas plus de 2 nodules (1 cm de diamètre) sur le visage ; et d. Un minimum de 10 cicatrices d'acné atrophiques au total (>2 mm) ; 3. Patient ayant un nombre symétrique des lésions/cicatrices suivantes sur l'ensemble du visage (c'est-à-dire qu'il n'y a pas deux fois plus de lésions/cicatrices, de chaque type, d'un côté du visage que de l'autre) : a. Lésions inflammatoires et non inflammatoires ; et b. Cicatrices atrophiques d'acné (minimum de 4 cicatrices par hémiface). 4. Le patient est une femme n'étant pas en âge de procréer (préménarchale ou ménopausée [absence des saignements menstruels pendant 1 an avant la sélection, sans autre raison médicale], hystérectomie ou ovariectomie bilatérale). 5. Le patient est une femme en âge de procréer : 5.1. qui est prête à effectuer des tests de grossesse urinaires tout au long de l'étude, au besoin. 5.2. qui a été strictement abstinente pendant le mois précédent la sélection, qui accepte de continuer à l'être pendant la durée de l'étude clinique et pendant au moins le mois suivant la dernière application du médicament à l'étude. OU qui accepte d'utiliser une ou plusieurs méthodes contraceptives hautement efficaces et approuvées pendant la durée de l'étude et au moins 1 mois après la dernière application du médicament à l'étude. Les méthodes contraceptives hautement efficaces comprennent : a. la ligature bilatérale des trompes ; b. les contraceptifs oraux combinés et approuvés (œstrogènes et progestérone), les contraceptifs implantés ou injectables, ou les anneaux vaginaux contraceptifs hormonaux à dose stable pendant au moins 1 mois avant la visite de sélection ; c. un dispositif intra-utérin ou un système intra-utérin à libération d'hormones, inséré au moins 1 mois avant la visite de sélection ; d. un partenaire vasectomisé depuis au moins 3 mois avant la visite de sélection. Remarque : ce critère s'applique aux patientes prépubères qui commencent à avoir leurs règles pendant l'étude. 6. Si une femme en âge de procréer utilise des contraceptifs oraux, également approuvés pour le traitement de l'acné vulgaire (tels que l'acétate de cyprotérone et l'éthinylestradiol ; la drospirénone et l'éthinylestradiol ; le norgestimate et l'éthinylestradiol ; l'acétate de norenthindrone et l'éthinylestradiol ; etc.), la dose doit être stable pendant au moins 6 mois avant la visite de sélection. 7. Le patient a lu, compris et signé le formulaire de consentement éclairé (FCE) approuvé avant toute participation à l'étude clinique. Le patient âgé de moins de 18 ans a signé un formulaire d'assentiment pour participer à l'étude clinique et son ou ses parents ou son représentant légal a lu et signé le formulaire de consentement éclairé avant toute procédure liée à l'étude clinique. 8. Le patient (et son tuteur légal, le cas échéant) accepte et est en mesure de se conformer à tous les engagements temporels et aux exigences procédurales du protocole, y compris l'enregistrement quotidien du respect de la posologie par le patient à l'aide d'une tablette électronique fournie pour cette étude, ainsi que la prise de vidéos quotidiennes montrant l'utilisation du médicament à l'étude. Un consentement concernant la prise de vidéos quotidiennes est obligatoire pour participer à l'étude dans tous les centres. 9. Le patient accepte que des photos soient prises (obligatoires pour participer à l'étude, dans des centres d'imagerie désignés), et vérifiées par le patient signant et datant un formulaire de consentement éclairé approuvé (dont l'acceptation de retirer tout maquillage avant les visites de l'étude, de retirer les bijoux dans les zones à photographier, d'entretenir les poils faciaux avant les visites de l'étude). 10. 1. Subject with acne conglobata, acne fulminans, secondary acne [chloracne, drug-induced acne, polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS), pyogenic arthritis-pyoderma gangrenosum-acne (PAPA), synovitis-acne-pustulosis-hyperostosis-osteitis (SAPHO), seborrhoea-acnehirsutism-androgenetic alopecia (SAHA), Hidradenitis suppurativa (HS), congenital adrenal hyperplasia (CAH) etc.], nodulocystic acne, acne requiring systemic treatment. 2. Subject with any acne cyst on the face or with more than 3 excoriated acne lesions. 3. Subject with known active or chronic allergies or suspected allergy to trifarotene or excipients of the formulation. 4. Prior failure of trifarotene treatment including intolerancethat resulted in stopping treatment; lack of clinical improvement, etc. 5. Subject with facial dermal conditions (e.g. tattoo, skin abrasion, eczema, sunburned skin, scars, nevi, etc.) that may interfere with study assessments in the opinion of the investigator. 6. Subject with excessive facial hair that would interfere with study assessments, as judged by the investigator, or unwilling to keep facial hair well-groomed prior to study visits, as judged appropriate by the investigator to perform study assessments. 7. Pregnant women (positive urine pregnancy test at the Screening or Baseline visits), breastfeeding women, or women planning a pregnancy during the study or within 1 month after the last study drug application 8. Subject with known impaired hepatic or renal functions, based on medical history. 9. Subjects taking Vitamin A supplements in excess of the recommended daily allowance (4000 –5000 IU; no washout period is required) 10.Subjects with a washout period for topical treatmentor procedures on the face less than: - Topical treatments: Corticosteroids, antibiotics, benzoyl peroxide, azelaic acid, alpha hydroxy acids, salicylic acid, zinc containing treatments, hydroquinones, and other anti-acne treatments 2 weeks - Topical retinoids 2 weeks - Clascoterone cream 1% (Winlevi) 2 weeks - Cosmetic/aesthetic procedures (e.g., comedo extraction, desquamating, or abrasive agents, adhesive”pore” cleansing strips) 1 week - Wax epilation 2 weeks - Photodynamic therapy 4 weeks - Laser therapy, microdermabrasion, deep chemical peel, and other plastic surgical treatments for acne 12 weeks 11.Subject with a washout period for systemic treatmentless than: - Corticosteroids, (except locally acting corticosteroids such as inhaled or intrathecal), antibiotics and spironolactone 4 weeks - Oral retinoids/isotretinoin 12 weeks - Cyproterone acetate / Chlormadinone acetate 12 weeks - Immunomodulators 12 weeks 12.Currently receiving any prescription testosterone therapy (e.g., testosterone cypionate, testosterone enanthate, testosterone pellet, testosterone undecanoate) or on a testosterone -booster or prescription testosterone (e.g., DHEA, Omnadren®, Sustanon®, testosterone cypionate, testosterone enanthate, testosterone propionate, testosterone phenylpropionate) or testosterone supplements (e.g., Tribulus). 13.The subject is unwilling to or unable to refrain from use of prohibited medication or procedures during the clinical study (seeSection 5.4.12.5) 14.Subject who foresees intensive ultraviolet exposure during the study 15.Subject who is at risk in terms of precautions, warnings, and contraindications for trifarotene based on approved labeling. 16.Subject with an acute / chronic disease or a history of major medical or surgical or psychiatric condition or surgical interventions that may either interfere with the interpretation of the study results and/or might put the subject at risk in the opinion of the investigator. 17.Subject under guardianship (for reason other than minor status), hospitalized subject in a public or private institution for a reason other than the research, and subject deprived of his/her freedom. 18.More than one subject sharing the same household. 19.Study site personnel, close relatives of the study site personnel (e.g., parents, children,siblings, or spouse), employees, or close relatives of employees at the Sponsor company. 20.Subject who has participated in another investigational drug or device research study within 30 days prior to Screening OR is in an exclusion period from a previous clinical study. 21.Subject who is unable to communicate or cooperate with the investigator due to history of alcohol/drug abuse, language problems, poor mental development, or impaired cognitive or verbal function.

Tout patient atteint d'acné conglobata, d'acné fulminans, d'acné secondaire [chloracné, acné médicamenteuse, syndrome des ovaires polykystiques (SOPK), arthrite pyogénique-pyoderma gangrenosum-acné (PAPA), synovite-acné-pustulose-hyperostose-ostéite (SAPHO), séborrhée-acné-hirsutisme-alopécie androgénétique (SAHA), hidradénite suppurée (HS), hyperplasie congénitale des surrénales (HCS) etc.], acné nodulocystique, acné nécessitant un traitement systémique. 2. Tout patient ayant un kyste d'acné sur le visage ou ayant plus de 3 lésions d'acné excoriées. 3. Tout patient présentant des allergies actives ou chroniques connues ou une allergie suspectée au trifarotène ou aux excipients de la formulation. 4. Échec antérieur lors d'un traitement par trifarotène, y compris une intolérance ayant entraîné l'arrêt du traitement ; absence d'amélioration clinique, etc. 5. Tout patient présentant des affections cutanées du visage (par exemple, tatouage, abrasion cutanée, eczéma, peau brûlée par le soleil, cicatrices, nævus, etc.) qui risquent d'interférer avec les évaluations de l'étude selon l'avis de l'investigateur. 6. Tout patient présentant une pilosité faciale excessive qui interférerait avec les évaluations de l'étude, selon l'avis de l'investigateur, ou ne souhaitant pas entretenir ses poils faciaux avant les visites de l'étude, comme jugé approprié par l'investigateur, pour effectuer les évaluations de l'étude. 7. Les femmes enceintes (test de grossesse urinaire positif lors des visites de sélection ou de référence), les femmes qui allaitent ou les femmes envisageant une grossesse pendant l'étude ou dans le mois suivant la dernière application du médicament à l'étude. 8. Tout patient présentant une insuffisance hépatique ou rénale connue, d'après ses antécédents médicaux. 9. Les patients prenant des suppléments de vitamine A dépassant l'apport quotidien recommandé (4 000-5 000 UI ; aucune période de sevrage n'est requise). 10. Les patients ayant effectué une période d'interruption du traitement suite à un traitement topique ou des procédures réalisées sur le visage autres que : - Traitements topiques : corticostéroïdes, antibiotiques, peroxyde de benzoyle, acide azélaïque, acides alpha hydroxy, acide salicylique, traitements contenant du zinc, hydroquinones et autres traitements anti-acnéiques 2 semaines - Rétinoïdes topiques 2 semaines - Clascotérone en crème à 1 % (Winlevi) 2 semaines - Procédures cosmétiques/esthétiques (p. ex. extraction de comédons, agents desquamants ou abrasifs, bandes nettoyantes adhésives pour les « pores ») 1 semaine - Épilation à la cire 2 semaines - Thérapie photodynamique 4 semaines - Thérapie au laser, microdermabrasion, peeling chimique profond et autres traitements chirurgicaux plastiques pour l'acné 12 semaines 11. Patient ayant effectué une période d'interruption du traitement pour un traitement systémique inférieure à : - Corticostéroïdes (à l'exception des corticostéroïdes à action locale tels que les corticostéroïdes inhalés ou intrathécaux), les antibiotiques et la spironolactone 4 semaines - Rétinoïdes/isotrétinoïne oraux 12 semaines - Acétate de cyprotérone / Acétate de chlormadinone 12 semaines - Immunomodulateurs 12 semaines 12. Recevant actuellement un traitement par testostérone sur ordonnance (p. ex. cypionate de testostérone, énanthate de testostérone, comprimés de testostérone, undécanoate de testostérone) ou sous booster de testostérone ou testostérone sur ordonnance (p. ex. DHEA, Omnadren®, Sustanon®, cypionate de testostérone, énanthate de testostérone, propionate de testostérone, phénylpropionate de testostérone) ou des suppléments de testostérone (p. ex. Tribulus). 13. Le patient ne veut pas ou ne peut pas éviter d'utiliser des médicaments ou des procédures interdits pendant l'étude clinique (voir section 5.4.12.5). 14. Patient qui prévoit une exposition intensive aux ultraviolets pendant l'étude. 15.
