Clinical trials

The European Union Clinical Trials Register   allows you to search for protocol and results information on:
  • interventional clinical trials that were approved in the European Union (EU)/European Economic Area (EEA) under the Clinical Trials Directive 2001/20/EC
  • clinical trials conducted outside the EU/EEA that are linked to European paediatric-medicine development

  • EU/EEA interventional clinical trials approved under or transitioned to the Clinical Trial Regulation 536/2014 are publicly accessible through the
    Clinical Trials Information System (CTIS).

The EU Clinical Trials Register currently displays   44335   clinical trials with a EudraCT protocol, of which   7366   are clinical trials conducted with subjects less than 18 years old.   The register also displays information on   18700   older paediatric trials (in scope of Article 45 of the Paediatric Regulation (EC) No 1901/2006).

Phase 1 trials conducted solely on adults and that are not part of an agreed paediatric investigation plan (PIP) are not publicly available (see Frequently Asked Questions ).

    E.2 Objective of the trial
    E.2.1Main objective of the trial
The primary objective of the study is to evaluate pain in the first 24h after Thumb trapeziometacarpal joint osteoarthritis surgery by total trapezectomy with the use of the WALANT modality as compared to the usual anesthetic modality, which is regional block and general anesthesia.
    E.2.2Secondary objectives of the trial
    Secondary objectives are:
    - To evaluate pain control in the postoperative 48h and oral analgesia consumption.
    - To evaluate the level of patient satisfaction with the process.
    - To evaluate the clinical outcome with the Patient Rated Wrist Evaluation (PRWE) scale at 1 month, 3 months, 6 months and 12 months post-intervention.
    - To study preoperative and intraoperative prognostic factors that may influence functional outcomes.
    - To evaluate intraoperative and postoperative complications.
    Los objetivos secundarios son:
    - Evaluar el control del dolor en las 48h postoperatorias y el consumo de analgesia oral.
    - Evaluar el nivel de satisfacción del proceso por parte del paciente.

    E.5.1Primary end point(s)
    - Pain on VAS scale (0-10, where 0 is no pain and 10 is the maximum level of pain) 24h after the surgical procedure. By telephone. Collected by one of the investigators (outside the hand surgery department) who will act as a blinded evaluator. The mean will be used as the central estimator and the standard deviation.
