To assess the microbiological and clinical efficacy, the safety and acceptability of the benzydamine HCl 6 mg and econazole nitrate 150 mg vaginal pessary, in comparison to Pevaryl® 150 mg vaginal pessary, in the treatment of uncomplicated VVC. |

E.3 | Principal inclusion criteria |
1. Females between 18 and 65 years of age (limits included), with no limitation of race.
2. Patients clinically diagnosed with uncomplicated VVC, as confirmed by a positive vaginal wet mount test.
3. Patients presenting at baseline a total score ≥ 3 in the subjective symptoms and a total score ≥ 1 in the objective signs.
4. Female of childbearing potential must have a negative pregnancy test at Visit 0 and agree to refrain from sexual intercourse from the signature of the informed consent up to Visit 4.
5. Patients legally capable of giving their consent to participate in the study and available to sign and date the written informed consent. |
1. Donne di età compresa tra 18 e 65 anni (limiti inclusi) senza limitazioni relative ad origine etnica.
2. Pazienti con diagnosi clinica di VVC non complicata, come confermato da test della secrezione vaginale positivo.
3. Pazienti che presentano al basale un punteggio totale ≥3 dei sintomi soggettivi e un punteggio totale ≥1 dei segni oggettivi.
4. Le donne potenzialmente fertili devono presentare un test di gravidanza negativo alla Visita 0 e accettare di astenersi dai rapporti sessuali dal momento della firma del modulo di consenso informato fino alla Visita 4.
5. Pazienti legalmente in grado di accordare il proprio consenso alla partecipazione allo studio e disposte a firmare e datare il consenso informato scritto. |

E.4 | Principal exclusion criteria |
1. Known hypersensitivity or allergy to the active ingredients and/or to any component of the study medications.
2. Lactating women.
3. Patients suffering from vaginitis of different etiology.
4. Treatment with systemic antifungal drugs within 4 weeks or with topical antifungal drugs within 1 week before Visit 0.
5. Use of any topical drugs on the application area and systemic drugs, including over the counter, oral anticoagulants (i.e. warfarin or acenocoumarol), anti-inflammatory and/or analgesic drugs, antibiotics
or antibacterials, within 2 weeks before Visit 0. Hormonal contraceptives and hormonal replacement therapies are allowed.
6. Patients with actual menstruation at Visit 0 or expected menstruation within 11 days after Visit 0.
7. Clinically significant abnormalities at physical examination, vital signs, ECG, laboratory tests at Visit 0.
8. Patients suffering from gynecological diseases (genital tract abnormalities, lichen sclerosus, post-operative alterations of the genital
tract, genital tract neoplasm) that may interfere with the study endpoints and/or procedures.
9. Immunocompromised patients or patients affected by non-controlled diabetes, or patients being treated with drugs (e.g. immunosuppressants, corticosteroids, anti-infectives), which may predispose to mycological infections.
10. Signs or symptoms or clinical documentation for concurrent infections (including but not limited to sexually transmitted infections) and/or neoplasm.
11. Patients suffering from chronic/recurrent vulvovaginal mycosis, defined as four or more mycological proven symptomatic episodes
during the last 12 months.
12. Inability to comply with the protocol requirements, instructions or study-related restrictions (i.e. uncooperative attitude, inability to return for study visits, unlikelihood of completing the clinical study).
13. Vulnerable patients (i.e. persons kept in detention).
14. Subjects involved in the conduct of the study (i.e. Investigator or his/her deputy, first grade relatives, pharmacist, assistant or other personnel).
15. Participation to an interventional clinical trial within 3 months prior to Visit 0. |
1. Nota ipersensibilità o allergia ai principi attivi e/o a uno qualsiasi dei componenti dei farmaci in studio.
2. Donne in allattamento.
3. Pazienti affette da vaginite di eziologia differente.
4. Trattamento con farmaci antimicotici sistemici entro 4 settimane o con farmaci antimicotici per uso topico entro 1 settimana prima della Visita 0.
5. Impiego di farmaci per uso topico sull'area di applicazione e farmaci sistemici, inclusi anticoagulanti orali da banco (ossia warfarina o acenocumarolo), farmaci anti-infiammatori e/o analgesici, antibiotici o anti-batterici, entro 2 settimane prima della Visita 0. Contraccettivi ormonali e terapie ormonali sostitutive sono consentiti.
6. Pazienti con mestruazione in corso alla Visita 0 o mestruazione prevista entro 11 giorni dopo la Visita 0.
7. Anomalie clinicamente significative all'esame obiettivo, funzioni vitali, ECG, analisi di laboratorio alla Visita 0.
8. Pazienti affette da malattie ginecologiche (anomalie del tratto genitale, lichen sclerosus genitale, alterazioni post operatorie del tratto genitale, neoplasia del tratto genitale) che possono interferire con gli end-point e/o le procedure dello studio.
9. Pazienti immunocompromesse o pazienti affette da diabete non controllato, o pazienti trattate con farmaci (per esempio immunosoppressori, corticosteroidi, antinfettivi) che possono causare predisposizione a infezioni micologiche.
10. Segni o sintomi o documentazione clinica di infezioni concomitanti (incluse ma non limitate a infezioni trasmesse sessualmente) e/o neoplasie.
11. Pazienti affette da micosi vulvovaginale cronica/ricorrente, definita come quattro o più episodi sintomatici comprovati con esame micologico durante gli ultimi 12 mesi.
12. Incapacità di aderire ai requisiti del protocollo, istruzioni o restrizioni correlate allo studio (ossia atteggiamento non collaborativo, impossibilità a ripresentarsi per le visite dello studio, scarse probabilità di completare lo studio clinico).
13. Pazienti vulnerabili (ossia persone in stato di detenzione).
14. Soggetti coinvolti nella conduzione dello studio (ossia lo Sperimentatore o il/la Suo/a delegato/a, parenti di primo grado, farmacista, assistente o altro personale).
